Jakob Ejersbo
Christian is the son of a Danish couple who live and work in Tanzania. He is very much left to his own devices but becomes friends with Marcus, a black boy with a miserable family background who works for a white family.
The two boys' friendship grows warm and strong in an African everyday life that exposes them to very intense and violent experiences. An everyday life and world filled with contrasts and conflicts in all generations and all environments, where disease, death, and alcohol rage.
However, the friendship remains unproblematic, for the white boy wants to be black, the black boy white? And as they grow older, the contradiction between them grows further until Christian is sent home to Aalborg to live with relatives. But is Denmark happiness for him now?
