David Lagercrantz
On June 8, 1954, during the height of the Cold War, Alan Turing, the visionary mathematician, is found dead in his home in Wilmslow, England. Next to the body, a half-eaten apple with evident traces of cyanide seems to be the cause. The investigation into what appears to be a clear case of suicide is assigned to the young police inspector Leonard Corell, who soon begins to have doubts during his inquiries. Why is the documentation related to Turing highly confidential and classified? Did his involvement with Enigma, the machine he invented that managed to decipher Nazi codes, have anything to do with it? His recent conviction for homosexuality raised alarms within the intelligence services: could he have been blackmailed by Soviet spies, turning him into a double agent? Could it be a conspiracy involving the highest levels of the country?
