Julia Schopick
The Power of Honest Medicine, by Julia Schopick with Don Schwartz, introduces readers to Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), an effective and inexpensive alternative to many costly and toxic treatments routinely prescribed for autoimmune and other chronic diseases. The book includes contributions from eighteen people around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, all of whom are eager to spread the word about this innovative therapy. Together, their stories have helped turn LDN into what many describe as a true “people’s movement.”
The Power of Honest Medicine has received high praise from leading voices in integrative and patient-centered medicine. Wendell Berry calls it “a vital resource for patients who want to become the authors of their own health.” Wayne B. Jonas writes, “If you have an autoimmune disease, read this book.” Ronald Hoffman says, “Julia Schopick does us a great service by breaking down the research, spiked with compelling patient success stories.” David Gluck describes it as “by far the clearest and finest book ever written for lay people regarding the effect of Low Dose Naltrexone on autoimmune diseases.”
Julia Schopick is a patient advocate, bestselling author, and public relations consultant. She founded her blog, HonestMedicine.com, in 2006, a year after the death of her husband, Tim Fisher, a fifteen-year brain tumor survivor. Her experience caring for and advocating for Tim inspired her to share information about little-known treatments that can extend lives, including those she discovered during her husband’s illness. Julia published her first book, Honest Medicine, in 2011 and continues her advocacy work in The Power of Honest Medicine. She has appeared on more than 200 radio and online talk shows, and her work has been featured in numerous print and digital publications, including American Medical News (AMA), Alternative and Complementary Therapies, The British Medical Journal, Modern Maturity (AARP), MindBodyGreen.com, Care2.com, and TheAtlantic.com.
Don Schwartz, PhD, is an author, journalist, personal historian, and actor whose work focuses on enhancing lives through storytelling. His book, Telling Their Own Conversations with Documentary Filmmakers (2013), is available on Amazon. He has reviewed more than 400 documentary films online, many of which examine shortcomings in the modern healthcare system.
