Arthur Koestler
Arthur Koestler (1905-1983) was a journalist and psychologist, writer and public figure, world famous for his dystopian novel Darkness at Noon (1940), which marked his break with the Communist Party and an ideological renaissance. Hungarian by birth, Koestler lived in Germany, Austria, France, for a short time - in the USSR (Turkmenistan), Palestine, Spain, USA and, until his tragic death - in England. Koestler's work was greatly influenced by his meeting in Paris with Sartre (1946), although they never became close friends.
