Running a bookstore is never boring. Running a bookstore in Israel during a war? That’s a whole different genre.

I didn’t set out to become an expert in shipping logistics or surviving chaos, but here we are. So here’s a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what it’s been like keeping the books moving — the good, the frustrating, and the unexpectedly heartwarming.

🚚 When the Shipping Company Goes Silent

Let’s start with this: there were days when the delivery company simply… disappeared. No emails, no phone calls, just radio silence. Meanwhile, packages were still out there — somewhere.

I’d get emails like:

“My package is 30 minutes away and I can’t get to it. Can you send it to my house instead?”

Sometimes I resent packages at my own cost. Sometimes they came back. Sometimes they didn’t. It was chaos, and I was constantly piecing together a puzzle with missing edges.

🏡 Letting Go of Pickup Points

Eventually, I had to make the decision to stop offering pickup points altogether. They were always a little unreliable, but during the war, they became almost impossible.

I shifted to home delivery and made it free for orders over ₪150. It’s not perfect, but it’s something. And honestly? Most people were incredibly kind about it.

💌 The Messages That Kept Me Going

In the middle of all the stress, some of you wrote to say “Take your time,” “I understand,” and even, “Don’t worry about it at all.” You have no idea how much that helped.

One customer told me the books were helping her sleep again. Another said they were a bright spot in a heavy time. That’s why I keep doing this — not because it’s easy, but because it matters.

📚 Stories Still Matter

Books are more than just paper and ink. They’re comfort, escape, insight, distraction — and right now, they feel especially vital. Every package I send out feels like a little message of hope and connection.

❤️ Thank You

If you’ve placed an order, waited patiently, or offered a kind word — thank you. You’ve helped keep this little shop running in the middle of a very uncertain time.

The packages may take a little longer. The systems may change. But the books? They’re still coming.

Stay safe. Stay kind. Keep reading.
